Drozin plans to have a quiet New Years Eve with Suzy but instead fights the blizzard of the century.
The Christmas bonuses at Wow were the most generous they had ever had thanks to Drozin and the “invention” of holographic 3-D graphic novels. By Spring, it looked like Wow was going to be the number one publishers of graphic novels in the world. With the SyFy deal for new TV programs and movies, the new year looked like it was going to be incredible. All that was needed was for the city and the citizens to survive until then.
New York City was planning on one of the biggest celebrations for the New Year that had ever been experienced. But the United States Weather Bureau had another idea in mind in the form of one of the most powerful Nor’easterns ever experienced. Moisture was coming up from the south off of the ocean and a low pressure front was coming in from Canada. The combined system almost looked like a hurricane from the weather satellites that were tracking the developments.
By December 30, the slow-moving combined system was burying Maine and New England in upwards to six feet of snow. Boston was shut down when five feet was dumped on it and it looked like New York City was going to be pounded by the time the ball dropped in Time Square.
The mayor was tempted to call off the celebration and had both the radio and TV stations warn revelers what was expected. The only major area that didn’t worry about the snow was New Drantis around a mile below the streets of New York. But as its unofficial guardians, Drozin and Ramshief had to come up with a plan to spare the city the blizzard of the century.
Since the gang at Wow had transporter tags, they could always take refuge in New Drantis. Since many were thinking of going there anyways, there was no change of plans for them. The church Drozin went to along with some other churches were invited by Mr. Amazing to transport to New Drantis to have watch-night services in the Christian section of the worship center in New Drantis. With a 2000-seat auditorium and a nearby cafeteria that could feed 3000 people, several churches could gather below New York City and easily ride out any storm that might come the city’s way.
To Drozin, the safety of his beloved Suzy and her cat Primay was of utmost importance. He had her come down right after work to make sure she was there if the storm arrived. Even Mrown looked forward to the appearance of Primay.
