With the stores of New York City crowded with shoppers for the season and New Drantis nearly a ghost town, Drozin invited the gang from work to shop the stores of New Drantis and bring their friends and families.  With Thanksgiving working out so well in New Drantis, shopping down there should be a breeze.  Or so he thought.

With a little over two weeks to go until Christmas, Drozin officially opened New Drantis for Christmas shopping.  Since he couldn’t be with everyone all the time unless he divided himself up, he assigned a synthetic to everyone that wanted to do shopping.  They could be their guides and also carry packages for them.  If anyone asked where they picked up the gifts, they could always say Mr. Amazing was responsible. 

The first store the gang entered was sort of a technically advanced version of WalMart.  It had most things that people wanted.  Since no one needed to pay anything, you couldn’t ask for a cheaper place to shop.  The synthetics pushed the anti-gravity carts with the items the people selected. 

The first department was the clothes fabrication area.  There were no racks or shelves with clothes on them.  Only the pictures of what was the be fabricated in the sections were shown for people to select items from.  All the people had to do first was enter a full-body scanning booth and strip down to either their underwear or nothing so that the body scanners could measure the bodies to produce clothes that fit perfectly. 

Like most of the scanning equipment in New Drantis, the minds of the shoppers were were also scanned so that they could communicate telepathically.  If a dress or pair of pants were shown, the scanner would produce a selection to choose from and the shopper would choose what he or she wanted.  The people liked having the underwear packaged in tens. 

Buying for people proved to be a bit more difficult.  Since the people who were going to wear the clothes had to be there so that it would fit perfectly, projection spheres the could project the images of the people being bought for were used.  Even then there was no guarantee that the clothes selected would fit.  Photos of the people helped.  But for children, some of the photos that were scanned were seriously out of date.  Even shoes and boots were available.
