Mr. Can you spare a dime? You sure can in fact in a state of emergency you could probably spare many dollars because in reality your money will be no good. What good will your money be when the balloon goes up and chaos reigns supreme? All the money in the world could not buy you a badly needed loaf of bread. Your saved dollars would not even be able to be used to purchase a bowl of rice or a cup of beans. No your money would mean nothing if necessary supplies were running in short demand.

Take the past disaster in Haiti. Money was useless there. It would be better to walk through the street and try to barter with a quart of purified water. It would gain you more in the long run. In cases such as national disasters clean, pure drinking water would become the coin of the times.
“What you are saying? You telling me that my gold and saved up silver will be worthless.” Yes, my friend that is exactly what I am trying to tell you so listen up all you survivalists and preppers.
Water in those times would be more valuable then a barrel of oil is today which brings to mind that water stored in barrels would actually be more beneficial to you then bottles. Bottles of this clear, liquid gold may be nice, however storage of them could present a bit of a problem. Half liter bottles usually come 24 in a case. That amounts to a little over 405 ounces of water being stored for a mere 3 plusgallons total.
If you were to try and store a vast quantity of water stored in bottles you could conceivably run into sever logics problems. If you insist upon using bottled water you should adhere to the golden rule of first in – first out in order to rotate your stock of water. Try to purchase your water when it is on sale. Once again if you are like me you may be only able to store approximately 10 cases. I admit that I am limited in room and that is the max that I can store up on.
I always feel that I am wasting when I make plans to use bottled water for any sort of sanitary uses when I can have water do double duty such as using gray water to serve multiple purposes or by providing a means for which I can capture rainwater to employ for that duty. Gray water is great to use in your garden during the warm summer months. Currently I keep many of my 2 liter soda bottles and recycle them for emergency water storage should the time arrive. Empty bleach bottles can provide water in which to flush your toilet when necessary.
Now suppose for instant that instead of using bottle you install only four 55 gallon drums in which to collect your water in. That will easily accumulate 220 gallons of stored collected water. If you were to try and equal that same amount in bottled water it would take you 70 cases of 1/2 liter bottles.
Now your problems will likely be solved rather easily if you have well water. All you would need to do is devise several alternative means of pumping it out such as a manual pump. As you can clearly see water may be the gold of the future. Use it wisely and save it properly.
