I am a member of a one big happy family,being the youngest of the five children of my parents I can consider my self as a spoiled one, as most of the youngest children are. I have 2 brothers and two sisters and all of them now got married, I myself remains with my parents custody together with one of my nephew.

It was considered that the basic unit of society is the family, and it is the family who nurtures us the most in consideration of the time we spent with this basic unit of society.

In my case it is true since I spent more than 50 percent of my time with my family, I can claim that the family values, cultures and points of views greatly influence mine. Almost every aspects of my personality and values in life was greatly influenced with that of my family.

My parents are God fearing individuals. Before, when they were strong enough, they used to have their services to the church community. They teaches us to avoid what is bad and do what is good. I can say that my parents really influenced my character as an individual.

My parents really value the good character as a possession that should be acquired by any individual. In terms of vices, my parents are not involve in smoking, maybe a reason why I don’t smoke. Although they drink wine, but it is moderate, just enough for there body to take. I cannot remember even a single incidence wherein my parents involve in chaos associated on being drunk.

Our parents are very good to us since I see that they treat us so special. I remember before few years ago when I was in sickness and confined in the hospital. My parents as well as my brother and sisters took care of me. My parents treat me like a baby or a younger boy even if I’m old enough.

There’s a lot of experiences happened in my life together with my family. These experiences molds me as a person. It influences my personality so much that I developed my values, points of views in life, traits and attitudes towards people basing on my family’s characteristics, belief and culture as a whole.

I believe that growing in a family is beneficial for any individual as this social institutions serves as the basic foundation and will serves as ground base of an individual’s social development as a person.

As an individual, I really admire the eastern culture including the Philippine culture that values family ties.
