Poetic story using the words of the famous hymn This is my Father’s World.
After a long and hard labor, the new mother gave him his son. The Father held him tight and rocked him back and forth singing:
“This is my Father’s World and to my listening ears all nature sings and round me rings the music of the spheres”
The baby grew and many Christmases came and went. The toddler ran through the house chasing the dog and leaving painted handprints of barbeque sauce all over. But at night, Dad would tuck in his son and sing:
“This is my Father’s world I rest me in the thought of rocks and trees of skies and seas his hands the wonders wrought”
The boy grew to be a teenager and had trouble in school. Never cleaned his room and buried himself in video games. But at night, Dad would tuck in his son and sing:
“This is my Father’s world O let me ne’er forget that though the wrong
seems oft so strong God is the ruler yet”
Age had taken over. The long road had finally been walked and they laid the father to rest. At the end of the service a young man stood up and sang:
“This is my Father’s world why should my heart be sad? The Lord is King
Let the heavens ring! God reigns; let the earth be glad”
