I wish that song “Love is in the air” was playing in the background for you, while reading this article. I share two, short funny stories that happened to me for real.

Smooth Operator

It was very early in the morning about 7am. I was at Waterloo East Station in London ordering a coffee in a little shop situated between the rail tracks. A man came to me, he had lovely brown eyes and said there was something on my back and took it off gently. He held it – just a little thread or string!  I thanked him and smiled. I ordered my coffee and somehow we started to chat. He asked what train I was taking and we ended up getting the same train and ofcourse sat down together to continue our conversation.

Cutting a long story short, we were together for a few years. On reflection, what makes me laugh is that he could have purposely stuck that little thread on my back and made out he was trying to be a gentleman. Who knows. :)

Blinking and Winking

In UK – The London Underground is dusty, particularly when a train is approaching. The wind blows dust/particles everywhere and on this occasion that I was travelling, I had a tiny particle stuck in one of my eyes. The seats on the underground face each other, so you have no choice but to look at the person infront of you or hide your face behind a newspaper – pretending to read.

As I sat down, my eyes were giving me discomfort and looking up, I kept on blinking in just that eye, hoping that the particle in it would go. I noticed the man sitting opposite was looking at me. After a few minutes, it occurred to me that I was actually winking at him (not consciously ofcourse). To me, I was blinking to get the particle out. I was so embarrassed. He must have thought I was trying to “pull” him. I couldn’t wait to get off at my Stop.
