A story of life.

My name is Khan is about a Muslim man with Asperger’s syndrome. It chronicles the life of Khan, an Indian Muslim man, with a special focus on his quest to meet the president of the Unites States of America.
When Khan moves from India to America to be in the care of his younger brother, a whole new world is opened up to him. Despite his brother’s opposition, Khan meets a Hindu Hairstylist, falls in love with her and they eventually marry. With this marriage he meets new responsibilities and challenges not only as a husband, but also as a stepfather. Khan becomes very content with his new life and new family, but it all starts to shatter with the event of the world trade center. The whole community starts to turn against him and his family, and tragedies start to hit.
Finally in a fit of anger, his wife suggests that he go see the president and say: “My name is Khan, and I am not a terrorist”. Taking her words literally, Khan starts out on the adventure of a lifetime to fulfill his mission, meeting a lot of people along the way.
This movie is a very feel good movie, definitely good for teaching cultural competency. It has a similar baseline similar to that of Forrest Gump. Nevertheless, one looking for a feel good movie that will tear at their heartstrings may want to check out this movie.
