Empathizing with a young student’s nightmarish day in middle school. Most days in middle school are just tolerated and not always the happiest.

Was Mom ever mad when she had to come get me from school. She was so mad she didn’t even ask why my head was soaking wet.  She made me fold laundry and then baby-sit my little sister Marsha while she went to the grocery store.  I promise she stayed an extra hour longer just to make me suffer.  For supper she made mushroom and spinach casserole.  Uuuugh!  Just how much can one kid take?  My stomach was already heaving in protest from the Tuna Surprise and now this???  I just nibbled on the roll and said I wasn’t feeling well (which was VERY true). It should be against the law to serve that rotten stuff to kids!  Then it was time for The 70’s Show!!!! My favorite!!!  “We interrupt the scheduled program for this special broadcast…” the man droned on in that monotone voice meaning it was going to be some grown-up show.  Then the President came on and began talking about a whole bunch of stuff I couldn’t understand. I just went outside to play with Blacky, our cat.  It didn’t take me long to realize Blacky had ran away.  He must have had as bad of a day as I had had.  He was probably afraid he was going to get served left-over spinach casserole.

I went upstairs to go to bed… even though it was only 7:20.  I might as well… I knew at that point it wasn’t going to get any better. Then as I was getting into bed WHACKKKK!  I stumped my big toe!

I GIVE UP!!!
