It’s not “just another short story” – I promise!!
After a long, tiring and a terrible Thursday, all I wanted to do after getting back home is sleep.
I guess my Thursdays end up seeming longer all the more, in the eternal wait for Friday J
And I quite did that – Only after a sumptuous dinner, a generous helping of dessert, half an hour of TV bakwaas, and an hour of chatting with sis – I finally slept…
Phone rings. It’s my cousin, Teji. GAWD!!Not at this time, please!
She shouted on the other side “Pooj, meet me at MORE *”
“MORE???Now?? At this time??Are you nuts, Tej??
I could sense the irritation in her voice “Pooja Joshi…PLEASE! It’s important!!”
“Yeah! Important. Like what? You want to buy tomatoes at this hour??Weirdo!”
She finally resorted to begging “Poojakka…Please! Please, Please!”
“Hmmmppfff!!OK OK!Stop that now…I’ll be there in 20 minutes…I swear I’ll kill you if I have to wait for even a minute..Get that?”
“Ok…promise! I won’t make you wait “.The relief showed in her voice.
I dint bother to change out of my night pants. Just pulled on a jacket and walked to the store, MORE. I sort of laughed at my insanity. Walking to a store at this time of the night, on a Thursday…
Reaching the store, I was baffled. The store had changed overnight. It wasn’t the single floor-4 column store that I’d seen for a long time. It was a sprawling building, with glass exteriors. Bright halogen lights displaying all the shops lined inside. It wasn’t just a departmental store anymore, it was big mall named “Mystique”. BIG MALL!
“OK! Wait a minute!!Is this what Teji wanted me to see? COOL! But couldn’t she have waited for one more day?” I wondered aloud.
I’d been standing at the entrance for almost 5 minutes. It felt rather stupid to be standing in front of such a fab mall, in my night pants. I tried calling my cousin, but as it always has to happen, her phone was not in reach. I decided to take a stroll inside than waiting outside, like a fool, dressed foolishly.
