Behind the computer screen.
Games like this are so simple, games where you just grab a weapon and shoot to the high scores. These games make you think less about logic and more about the urge to “get ahead” of your opponents. I knew what it took to “get ahead”, I knew how many m4 bullets it took, how much accuracy it would take, and what kind of grenade it would take to “suppress” the situation. However I wasn’t the only one, they were other players, people who played longer then me, knew the ropes better than me, and this “shadowskate” player was no exception.
I met shadowskate while playing a waterfall map, I was in it, getting a decent score.. nothing too hardcore, but this guy, this guy just joined and seconds later I had a bullet from a Desert Eagle that hit my character right in the eye. It came directly from shadowskate, even when I tried to get payback he was just too good for me. My gernades didn’t keep him pinned, my m4 kept missing him, and every moment where I was unprepared, shadowskate was there to take advantage of the moment. I hated this guy.
So after he was kind enough to get 20 points ahead of me… for whatever reason he sent me a friend invite. I don’t know why, maybe it was because he wanted to kill me some more, maybe it was because he appreciated the thought of someone wanting payback and someone willing to get it.
Week after week, I saw him joining other games playing and irritating players with his skill. I took chances like this to join the game with him and fight for the opposing side for a chance to shoot his head off. We didn’t really talk much, the only real conversations between us were said with bullets, and he seemed to understand every word of it, enough of it to piss me off. I wasn’t the type to give up though. It truly is sad how obsessed over revenge I got over this game, I just didn’t care. I use to only care about weapon levels, and expanded ammo clips but after one annoying player, after one shot through the brain and suddenly my obsessions revolved around payback.
Like I said they were no real conversations between us… well before he directly sent me a message.
