A short story of religion, history, and mans madness.

Her strides were long and strong. She was tall and athletic.   She turned the corner now…striding. She wasn’t actually hurrying, but did move as if getting where she was going was her mission. Her name was Nema and she was headed home to tend to her mother.  “RA-TA-TAT-BOOM!!!” A blast of gunfire and explosion caused her to flinch, and move a little faster.     The place was Sri Lanka. The year was 2030, and most of the world was still at war- including what was formally known as the U.S., New Mongo, and the Russian Reformatory Legion.   Nema Sis-kova was 17 years old; the daughter of a mixed heritage, yet Sri Lankan, mother, and a Russian father whom she had never met-or even seen. It was because of this father, though she loathed his name, that Nema was even allowed partial freedom. For in this day and age women were truly born, bred, and traded or sold, like cattle.    There was a microchip, injected under the skin of the forehead, that was used to save and retrieve information about the person it was issued to. For women it told of who or what group they were owned by; what were their primary skills; the type of children she was prone to produce, if used for breeding( high to low IQs, taller, shorter, lazy or work horse, etc.), etc. For Russian blooded men or women, though everyone received a microchip, they received status points along with trade skills, job/duty, etc. This was because that the entire continent of Europe and the middle east were R.R.L. territories. The former country that was Russia had attacked and taken hold of the European and Middle Eastern territories nearly ten years ago, before changing their country,s name and purpose. A war between the Russian empire and the United American Consolidation Culture(formerly the U.S.) has been continuous in northeastern and northwestern Ra-Allean for almost eight years, to the day. Ra-Allean( formerly Africa) is where the ACC took a stand against the Russians, and their planned world take over.     She was greeted at the gates of her community by a Russian soldier. He ran an electronic scanner across her forehead. And the scanner emitted a beep. “Sleep well Lady Sis-kova”, The soldier said as she hurried past him, trotting the rest of the way to her renal space.     As earlier stated, Nema only lived as well as she did because of who her father had been. He had been a young junior commander in 2013 when Russia had invaded and taken over Sri Lanka and most of the middle east. And he had chosen to to keep the captive, that would be Nema’s mother. Degrading, raping, and beating her almost daily.  Junior commander Sis-kova had became Supreme Commander Sis-kova, by the time that Nema was 7, and could have possibly been the Emperor, had he lived. So now Nema was all that was left of a man that the reformists almost considered a God. She had been given her mother as property two years ago, and was trying desperately to take care of the both of them.   On this day, she had come home from work, where she managed several women who cooked for the soldiers. Women that were twice her age, in years. But women that were not considered Russian; thus not trusted by the soldiers that they cooked for. She was not making enough wages as a manager though. Not enough to free her mother, and others like them, of this torture and sexual cruelty.   “Good evening mother”, she greeted the older woman as she went in. “Did you make yourself food?” “No, i did not Nema. I did tell you that I was fasting today. To bring Allah closer to us both, child.” her mother said. Nema looked at her mother with the same sad-eyed look as she always did, when she spoke of such silliness. She decided to put her mother to bed. She had to think a way to be freed from the corrupted mind of these men. She had to find a way to get their full attention. And then their full respect.
