We are the victorious English. The Spanish Armada has fallen to us. Of course the result was expected but the questions that will be answered in this article are: what has cause this war was Lord Howard a good leader, what happened to the Spanish at Scotland and the battle along Gravelines.
So how or when did this all start? In 1558, king Philip II of Spain offered to marry Elizabeth one of England, just 30 years later in 1588,he sent a fleet to invade our realm. What has caused this change? The answer was of course religion, after refusing to marry the Devil. Philip was now sure he can not take over England (by marriage Her Majesty) and turn it in to a Christian country. This was confirmed by the Protestant Settlement created in 1559. Now he is trying to take it by force.

There was numbers of great things that Queen Elizabeth did in order to irritate the Spanish Prince by attacking this treasure ships with Sir Francis Drake at the lead. What is more is he as knighted after raiding the Spanish and he received £10,000 from the Crown, and a green silk scarf emblazoned with the legend, “The Almighty be your Guide and your Protector to the End.” Our Queen also helped the Dutch rebels too fight Spain, which is a very cunning plan.
The fuse to this was the execution of Queen Marry Tudor in 1587. Mary had left a will saying Philip should be the ruler of the “catholic” church. This gave Philip a good excuse to start the invasion. The building of the ship started as early as 1585, since he had no good excuse to attack our own realm he only spend some money for the battle ships, but in 1587-1588 he has started to focus on assembling a huge fleet otherwise know as an Armada. In the mist of the assembling Sir Francis Drake led a small attack on the Spanish, sinking ships and burning vital supplies, in 1587. Sir Drake “singes the King of Spain”s beard.’ (Where it was)
The Spanish took a whole year to recover from the attack they had a ships up to 130 (22 warships of the Spanish Royal Navy and 108 converted merchant vessels), 19,000 men, 1,500 brass guns and 1,000 iron guns.In most of them are soldiers and novas sailors. By the look of it his plan was to be able to port at somewhere in England the use the soldier to take over England. But his dark heart was not contempt (like all people with power) he wanted more foot men; therefore he decided to pick up some of Duke of Parma’s army. He was Philips nephew, who was making he was from the Netherlands. In the Spanish Netherlands an army of 30,000 men awaited its arrival. They thought that they had the upper hand, they were sadly mistaken.
