Some mysterious things go on in a house.

It’s so easy to make a story in ten minutes by simply using three words:

  • fire
  • clock
  • certainty

The thing is, you have to start writing for ten minutes. Make sure you use the three given words in your text. It doesn’t have to be a story it can be anything. If you don’t know what to write start to write I don’t know what to write with the three words, fire, clock and certainty and see you have written something. Don’t edit yourself. Just start writing. Get the words out of your head.

Here’s What I Wrote (Speed Writing)

Their house was on fire. She looked at her clock and was in a shock. It is past midnight and everyone came outside to see the spectacle. Other people couldn’t believe their eyes what just has happened. The woman felt a certain certainty about what might happen next. It seemed so unreal to her. She couldn’t believe it. Her house was burning and with it all her precious items will be lost forever. Her diaries she kept in her cupboard, her lovely books and pictures from her family. Her memoirs, which she has been working on them for so long. She was on the verge of tears but had to be strong no to cry. Soon lots of people gathered around her and wanted to comfort her. She was lost in her mind. She didn’t even realize they were standing next to her. Her mind was somewhere else. She was a bit happy thought. As this way no one will find out her secret she kept so long inside her.

No one will find out about the corpse she had in her attic, about the bones from past people. She was on the one hand content and glad that no one will find this out. Then soon the fire brigade came and started to pull out the hoses to extinguish the fire but it was helpless. The fire has already reached the top windows and the roof. It was hopeless. The house would fall in a minute so it was dangerous to enter the house and save her cat which was still in the house. She though didn’t care about the cat, but pretended to be sad so that the others won’t be suspicious about her. No one would know that she was a bad woman. She appeared to be good, went to coffees on Sundays to one of her friends, talked with them had fun but no one knew her dark secret, the secret that she only knew.

But she was worried now. The fire brigade came and they would soon enter the house no matter how big the fire flames are, they will enter the house and find out the human bones. She became tense and the other people, her friends, noticed that but they thought it’s only because of their precious things that might still be in the house but no one knew the truth…

See it wasn’t that bad. You can do it too. You don’t have to write about mystery. Write about whatever you want. There are no rules. It’s up to you. I wrote about that because funny that was the only thing that popped into my mind when I started with my first sentence and see where it lead me.

So now it’s your turn!
