Miracle story.

ONE EXAMPLE OF A SMALL MIRACLE

I wake up, get ready, and polish my shoes for the first day of big school. I go looking for Mum or Dad, but they aren’t in their room or the whole house. I call the police and they pick me up and take me to the East Sydney Orphanage.

“Sam? Samantha?” I open my eyelids slowly to hear Nurse May’s voice calling me. I remember it’s my birthday! I jump up, and run into the kitchen. “We’re all waiting for you Sam! We are having cake for breakfast and you and I are going out for your birthday! Happy Birthday!” Nurse May exclaimed. Everyone awaited my wish. I said to myself, “I wish that Mummy and Daddy will come back.” I blew out the seven candles and everyone started to sing. Three years had passed since my whole life was changed forever. After finishing the cake, I brushed my teeth and hair, and got dressed into my best clothes. I was thrilled and terrified at seeing the world again.

As we exited the orphanage there was a girl wandering aimlessly around the streets. I wasn’t looking around properly and bumped into her. The girl said, “Hi there!” I felt surprised. “Jane is my name. Ha-ha!” she continued, “What’s yours?” “Samantha.” I replied quickly. I was amazed at how similar we looked. “What’s your surname?” She then replied, “Rosette. One of my really great friends Cassandra Byers said one of her friends went to East Sydney Orphanage.” She pointed to Nurse May’s ESO uniform. I said, “Cass was my best pre-school friend… my last name is Rosette too!” We chattered and walked around the shops, (didn’t buy anything) then Jane went home. At 7:00pm there was a knock on the door. Nurse May and I raced to see who it was. It was Jane. She had brought along a tall, middle aged, confused man. Nurse May said, “Jane, who is this?” She replied, “Oh, this is my Dad. May we come in?” Nurse May hesitantly opened the door. They looked as surprised as a meerkat at my face. He quickly asked Nurse May, “I-is she my daughter?” I covered my mouth in shock and confusion. Nurse May said, “Let’s all sit down.” Nurse May answered the man’s question, “I did look at Samantha’s file after seeing Jane… yes, yes she is your daughter. Jane’s her twin.” The man who I now call Dad, rushed over to give me a hug. I was hesitant at first. Then he said, “The people you called parents, were never your parents. They adopted you at birth and after, abandoned you. When your real mother died, I went a bit… mental. I was forced into an institution, leaving you and Jane to your foster parents. When I got out, I searched for both of you and found Jane first. I was looking for you for years. I’m so glad Jane told me about you.”

After only a few serendipitous events, Samantha and Jane got wonderful birthday presents… each other. Miracles can happen.
