You have done it all, kept your hands clean, stayed away from sick people and yet your sick. Now what do you do?

You have done everything the experts tell you, wash your hands, sneeze in a tissue or in the crease of your elbow; but its too late you have caught a cold. Lets be honest, it is very difficult to avoid catching a cold unless you stay indoor forever, which of course we know is impossible and unhealthy, or wear a face mask along with rubber gloves; trust me here in New York I have seen it all.

Most people go running off to see their doctors’, without realizing with only sneezing, running nose and an itchy throat you may just have “allergies”, or a mild cold; which there is nothing the doctor could do for you. Most people who never had allergies are finding that they are developing them as time goes on, whether it is because of pollutants in the air or the process of aging.

Your doctor may suggest some items to alleviate the discomfort, but until there is fever or a sign of infection there is really nothing he can do. Now you go to the drug section in you local supermarket, annoyed because the doctor did not give you a prescription for “something” or “anything”. There are so many medications on the market that we often get overwhelmed just adding to our discomfort.

Well look at your symptoms, are you congested in the head; you may look at Advil Cold and Sinus medication. This product is to help relieve some of the congestion while easing the pain associated with sinus congestion, while if it appears to be itching, sneezing and a running nose try an allergy medication such as Claritin or Benadryl. These are of course all suggestions that you may want to consult with your doctor before purchasing, especially if you are taking other medications, to make sure there is no conflict, as those with thyroid disease or high blood pressure such not take many medications of these over the counter medications.
