Shortstory.
OUTPUT Rashid Javaid
“Sir, I need a Travelling Allowance Bill claim form “
“ T,A.Bill claim form…….ask the clerk in stationary department…”
Why is the stationary clerk never in his seat…he thought.
“Sir I need a medical bill reimbursement form .” another colleague requested.
This request reminded him of his ailing daughter who was down with cough and cold for the last ten days. He had spent a thousand rupees so far on her treatment from a private doctor, The medicine prescribed by the department’s medical officer did not cure her and the department does not reimburse the bill of any other doctor.
He got a lot of experiences in his three years service in this department. At the time of joining this place three years ago, one of the senior officers advised him
“Son, do not make it a habit to stick to your seat…do your office job liesurly…”
He did not take this advice to heart, rather smiled over it at that time. He had succeeded to get this job with much difficulty and after a long interval of unemployment. “kam jawaanaan dee maut”(Hard work is burden for youth), saying was very popular in the office but he didn’t like this self made proverb and was always eager to discharge his duties in a nice manner.
“Sir, Mr. Kazmi is calling for you…” office peon informed him.
Mr. Kazmi had a separate room in the office. He always had a pile of office files on his table and summoning the clerks to his office, whether it was needed or not, was his favorite hobby.
“ Yes Mr. Kazmi, you summoned me….” He said entering in the room.
“ O yes , look here, this is a letter from Head Office. They need a detailed reply in this matter….”
“ But, Sir, you have all the details already with you…”
