A short story version of my Novella "Past Vacations" a Must for sci-fi fans!
Past Vacations
A short story based on my Novella of the same name.
“No after you, you go first I have all day”
The automatic doors opened and the neon lights bathed the two men as they walked in the travel agents. A holographic biplane dragging a holographic sign whizzed past their heads, the banner read ’Welcome to past Vacations!’ A very pretty young lady approached the two men and said,
“Good morning one of you is Mr Dunn and the other is Mr Trimnell, now which is which?”
The tall dark haired man thrust out his hand and said,
“I’m Adrian Dunn”
“Hello Adrian take a seat and have you made your mind up yet?”
Adrian sat down in the plush leather seat and said,
“Not yet I’ve narrowed it down though, please see to Mr Trimnell, I’m terrible for making my mind up! I’m a Libran you see sign of the scales, I can never make my mind up”
Adrian sat down and flicked through his electronic travel brochure. Simon Trimnell sat down next to Adrian whilst they waited for their separate appointments, Simon said,
“Did you fill in those disclaimers? Jesus they don’t leave anything to chance do they! 121 signatures I counted them!”
Adrian replied,
“I know but I guess they have to be careful, I mean its not like a trip to Mexico or a cruise around the Med!”
The young girl brought up a tray coffee and biscuits, just as she was about to leave Simon said,
“Is Titanic still available? I know its one traveller at a time to the ship?”
Sandra the young receptionist typed in Titanic on her PC and said,
“Yes you’re in luck we have three days leading up to the night of the sinking. I’m sure you have read the disclaimer and page 42 specifically as regards the Titanic ‘You must return before 11.00pm Mr Trimnell Titanic hit’s the iceberg at 12.20pm ok?”

Sandra smiled and began counting the cash in the till from yesterday’s takings. Adrian leaned over and said to Simon,
“Wow you don’t muck around do you straight for Titanic eh! that’s one of the dearest trips ‘Past Vacations’ does!”
