Do you?

Every now and then I think about what kind of person I am. I think as to whether or not I do my part in this large world and if when it comes down to it, does it even really matter or make a difference?

The other day, I ran to Starbucks on my break and was in a really big rush to get back to my office. A man yelled at me and rushed over as I turned around. He explained to me that he was sorry to bother me but his car had ran out of gas and he wanted to know if I had some money to spare. I honestly can say that I never carry cash around with me so I apologized.

He looked a bit disappointed and embarassed. I remembered as I turned around that I had some left over money on some gas cards that I had won at work a few weeks ago. I knew one of them had about $20.00 dollars on it and told him to hold on a second. I handed him the card and told him to have a good day. He immediately started to run towards where I assumed his car was.

Now, this was a small gesture on my behalf. Who is to say that he really did or did not run out of gas, but I must say that it did feel good to pay it forward. I went up the elevator to my office hoping that he would return the favor to someone else and pay it forward.

Small little things like this really make a difference in my mind. It is something that maybe someone won’t think anything big about, but it really does make the world go round. A kind favor can mean the world to someone else. I would really like to hope that simple things I do everyday, like making sure to thank my barista or smiling at a walking by stranger makes that persons day just a little bit better.

I am not sure if everyone else is on the same page as me, but I just find it makes life a little more enjoyable. Hopefully when someone ends up doing something nice for me, I will know it is just coming back to me because that is the kind of vibe I have put out. Sorry for the rambling on….I just had to express my little opinion on paying it forward.

Such a beautiful thought…we all should do our bit, what goes around, comes around. Even if it doesn’t we can just feel the joy of having passed on a little cheer. Lovely!

Never be tired of doing little things for others. sometimes those little things are the big things in which are treasured and kept in their hearts.

It is such a lovely thought. We should all try and remember that we have so much these days that is is easy to share it around a bit. Good work.

Great work Mrs M, enjoyed reading this and it was so true, we are all very lucky for what we have in life and should do more to help others who have nothing, best wishes Aaron x

Lucky for him that you had the cards. We are rapidly turning into a cashless society.

I’m a great believer in paying it forward, there’s a Kevin Spacey film of the same name, excellent article Mrs M.

Thank you for doing that. It is what gives us hope for humanity!
Before I got the electronic device, one of my favorite ‘pay-it-forward’ was paying for the highway toll of the next couple cars. You can’t buy that smile for such little change!
    Thanks,
    Clay

It’s no good anyone tapping me up for money. The last banknote I owned was printed in Latin! I very rarely carry cash. This was very charitable of you Mrs M, well done.

Doing a good deed for someone always makes you feel better about yourself and hopefully gives the other person a lift up too. Kill two birds with one stone so to speak.

I’ve always admired the sincerity in your works.
