The Best Thing I Have
by Roween Antonette B. Alontaga
I love to play Badminton. I remember the first time that I held a racket and shuttle cock I did not know how to use it. I doubted if it was good for me or not but time came whenever I saw a good player in the court, it caught my attention. There I could not deny the fact that I wanted to be one of them.
Since I was an elementary pupil, I have been one of the badminton players to represent our school. We went to other school if there could be a sport fest event. Sometimes in the game, we won and sometimes we lost. However, whatever happened whether we lost the game or not, I would be lucky because my parents were there to cheer me up whenever I had a game.
After I graduated in elementary, The BUSCO SUGAR MILLING COMPANY gave the athlete a scholarship award and I am one of them. It is a big opportunity to a young girl like me. I am so blessed because it helped me in terms of my financial support in my studies.
When I am a high school student I still played badminton, I continued what I started. Every intramural I always joined to be a badminton representative in our batch. In my four years in high school I got 3 won and 1 lost. Every time I won my grandmother gave me a gift as a reward, I received shoes, Techno racket and a set of shuttle cock. I am so lucky to have that stuff. When the time that I became a senior student after intramural feast the South Poblacion of Maramag Bukidnon open a sports league, one of my friends listed me to join the event. At first I do not want to join because I have no time for that event, but my friends find a way to change my mind.
When we were at the event, I felt nervous because it was my first time to play in the gymnasium of south Poblacion. Suddenly, after the game1 I collapsed at the backstage, my friends sent me to the hospital and they found out that I had a heart failure.
Furthermore, as of now I stopped taking medicine because I am now feeling well and my pediatric said that my check up resulted to negative, but she warning me to stop playing badminton because it is not good for me.
I learn that I need to value the things that I have because no one knows when it lasts. It is not easy to avoid doing things that I love most.
