Short story re visit to Royal Museum of Scotland during Edinburgh Festival.

At the height of the Edinburgh Festival, Eddie arrived at the Royal Museum of Scotland and headed for the modern engineering section. He passed the displays of a John Logie Baird original TV, the NCR Mark 1 cash machine, the Sinclair C5 and the Spectrum ZX80 computer. What he had come to see, being an ‘anorak’, was an original 1960s Photo-Me booth.

Eddie marvelled at the old-fashioned block capital lettered signage ‘PHOTOS’, revelled in the excitement of the 2-colours curtain screen, admired the cheesy sample portraits displayed on the booth’s exterior, and luxuriated in the spartan comfort of the adjustable stool.

He wondered at the confined space, the fingerprint-smeared mirror, the old-fashioned camera lens and reminisced about the affordable cost per 4 photos. Truly, he was in retro 1960s photo booth heaven! Next stop, the Doctor Who convention in Charlotte Square Gardens.
