Short story of one man’s life which was ruined by making the wrong choice and how he regained his integrity, strength, respect and a good life through his faith in God and His Son Jesus Christ.
What we have here is a thought that only people like Pops and people like him can understand. Pops never professed to be the most appreciative nut in this aimless world today but after three quarters of a century he thinks that he finally has got a little something to say.
First of all, lets get a little backdrop to pops upbringing so you will get at least an idea where he’s coming from.
Being born in a small town in Kentucky was his first and biggest mistake. Pops thought that he should have asked the forces at work then to move him to at least a metropolitan area where he could sort of grow up spiritually, mentally and more wiser like all of the geniuses in the other parts of this great land of opportunities and great mysteries. You know what I mean? Of course Pops can see things now in a more sensible light. Old age is not a mindset. It’s a set mind in a set body that is in a set state of plenty of set time. Pops will explain that later on in this article. Remind him about that if will you. But to make a long story short, he was born in the midst of smart intelligent people who for the most part stayed right where they were born, in a semi- small town. They were not born to be wild but good Kentuckians.
At an early age Pops remembered being at a wedding being held at his grandmothers home. His Mom and dad were standing with their backs toward the front door and the preacher stood facing them. Pops at that young age had not the faintest idea what was going on. All he knew was that he was warned to keep quiet and stay put where he was. Kids in those days were to be seen but not heard. Everyone seemed to be happy and in a joyful mood. He remembered the preacher when he said something about his dad kissing his mom and then the preacher closed his little book.
Everybody began hugging each of them and then they began hugging each other. Pops noticed that some of the men had great delight in hugging women. From his position he could see hands moving slyly across the rear ends of a couple of women. He didn’t know it then but now as he thought back on that scene some of the guests were not as religious and pious as they seemed to be, especially some of the married ones. They kept up a good pretense though, they were pretty good hypocrites.
