Short story of one man’s life which was ruined by making the wrong choice and how he regained his integrity, strength, respect and a good life through his faith in God and His Son Jesus Christ.
He was with some of his drinking partners and he set them up with drinks. He had quite a sum of money on him when he started. Pops drank so much that he could not remember what happened the rest of the night. He awakened the next morning with a hangover like he had never experienced before. He reached into his back pocket to see how much money he had left but his billfold was gone, Pops knew that he had been given something in his drink for he was indeed sick in his stomach. He laid there until his wife came in with their son. He got up later and decided to ask some of his so-called friends what had happened. They said that he had left them to go home when the beer joint closed and that was the last time they saw him. No one knew what happened to his wallet.
Pops did not have to wait long after that to find out where his wallet was. The day after that, there was a loud knock at the door. Pops asked, “who is it?” The reply was loud and clear. “It’s the police!” Pops opened the door and let them in. They immediately arrested Pops for burglary and handcuffed him. They put him in a police van. Pops was very embarrassed. All of his neighbors were watching. They searched Pops home but they found nothing. They took hi down to the station and questioned him. That’s when Pops found out where his billfold was. Pops had no idea how they found his billfold at the place they said they recovered it . The one break-in they were accusing Pops of, Pops knew nothing about it whatsoever. Justice had caught up with Pops but it was in a strange way. Pops was guilty but not guilty of the one they were accusing him of. A lot of things were going on in Pops mind. If he just confessed to everything as they suggested to him, his wife, who at that time was commiting adultery with his cousin’s husband, and his child would get some help and they would be taken care of. The state would give her aid. Pops would have the time to sort things out. At least he would have time to dry out and come to his senses. They gave him four years in the correctional facility not too far from his home town. For each year Pops would have to serve 3 months which meant he would be locked up for a total of one year before he would be released on parole. The time passed quickly because Pops realized that God wanted him to preach the gospel and be a witness to the inmates there. While Pops was in confinement he prayed and he studied his Bible. He began to witness to all who would hear him and even the guards who heard him preach knew that Pops was not faking. Pops was real. Many accepted Christ while he was there. God used Pops to win souls there. He ministered to the prisoners and some accepted Christ as their LORD and Savior. Pops prison ministry was blessed. God taught him how to share His word and preach the gospel to those who would hear.
