Potato Chip Myth
Once upon a time there was a god, Klyde, and a goddess, Pyra. Klyde was the god of salt and Pyra was the god of fire. They were madly in love with each other. Pyra happened to be a virgin god which led Klyde to be very promiscuous and not loyal at times. One day Klyde snuck off and had an affair with Clifton who was a young mortal who liked to eat and kiss. Klyde was attracted to Clifton because of her flaming red locks that resembled Pyra’s. When Pyra found out about this affair a huge battle ensued. Both Klyde and Pyra had an army of archers facing each other ready to kill. Clifton desperately tried to stop the two from fighting but she as a mortal could not do a thing to two great and powerful gods. Pyra threw a rock at her which hit her on the head. Clifton furiously threw a potato back at her. While the potato was in mid flight Klyde fired his arrows and Pyra fired hers. The potato was sliced up into several small slices. Pyra’s arrows baked the potato bits while Klyde’s salted them. The arrows killed everyone except Clifton because she was ducking in the middle and all the arrows flew over her. After all the chaos was over Clifton got up and saw her potato slices roasted on the ground and salted. She thought to herself how they tasted. She looked around and saw no one so she knelt over and picked up one of the potato slices. It smelled delicious. She took a bite and it crunched in her mouth as she chewed. It tasted great! Clifton collected them up in her hands and ate them all the way home. These roasted salted slices of potato became known as potato chips.
