People hear this announcement. They are all interested in marrying the princess. Kings, early, barons arrive in Waleeloo. A great feast is held in the palace to honor all the young men. They are all present in the court.

Once upon a time there was a king .His name was Waleeloo. His daughter was beautiful. Her name was Bellfina. She was very proud of her beauty. She spent her days looking into the mirror and admiring herself when the queen observed that Bellfina had grown into a pretty princess she said to the king:-

 Act I scene I

Queen: I think the time has come to get the princess married.

King: if you think so we will make the necessary arrangements. (Claps his hand to call the messenger)Go and tell everybody that I want to get the princess married.

 Messenger: (goes to the market place and makes the announcement) hear! Everybody hear! The king wants to get the princess married.

 Act I scene II

People hear this announcement. They are all interested in marrying the princess. Kings, early, barons arrive in Waleeloo. A great feast is held in the palace to honor all the young men. They are all present in the court.

  King: call the princess.

(The princess arrives. She looks at each of them, but manages to find fault in everybody.)

 Duke of Galeelo: I have come to marry you princess.

Princess: who will marry you sir! You are as round as a barrel.

(The offended duke goes back to his place)

 Baron of Mastiff: I would like to make you my wife, princess.

Princess: first go and look at yourself in the mirror. You are as tall as bean poll.

(The baron stamps his feet and goes out.)

 Earl of Kenny: will you be my wife, princess?

Princes: I do not want marry a sick person. You are so pale. (The earl goes back in silence.)

 Prince of Tork: I have come from a far way land to ask for your hand, princess.

Princess: my! Look at your cheeks! They are as red as a beetroot. (The humiliated prince has no answer.)

 King of Bustell: will you marry me, princess?

Princess: Ha! Look at your chin. It is like a thrush’s beak.

Everybody likes the word thrush’s beak.

Everybody: thrush beard, thrush beard. Look at thrush beard.

King of Waleeloo: stop making fun. Princes Bellfina you have become a very proud young lady. I will marry you to the first person who comes to this door.

(A shocked queen and an extremely angry princess look on, as the king and the other visiting dignitaries leave the court.)

 

Act scene III

After some days a man is heard playing a guitar before the palace gates. He wants to earn some money.

King: who is playing this wonderful piece of music? Go and call this musician inside.

Musician: your highness! I am a vagabond. This guitar is my only possession and music is the only thing I love.

King: play a nice of music for us.

(The musician plays on his guitar.)

King: excellent! I am very happy with the way you played. I will marry my daughter to you.

Queen: what are you saying? You will marry the princess to this vagabond?

King: why not? I promised that I will marry the princess to the first person who came to this door.

(When Bellfina hears this she is very angry.)

Bellfina: how can you marry me to this musician/ I will not go with him.

King: you will have to marry this man. I have to fulfill the promise I have him.

(The get married and the poor princess crying and lamenting leaves the palace with the musician.)
