A short journey of paranoia

He, she or it’s always there. Laughing voices in the afternoon. The sound outside my room at night. A lurking giant reptillian fire breathing dragon just outside the window. So frightening, I’m afraid to go out and check or even look out the window. Escape is the only answer.

I’ve got to get away now. Halfway around the world to Aulantis. They won’t find me here. I don’t hear the laughing voices during the day. The overgrown reptile creepy crawling past my window at night. Even in my sleep I dream of them hovering over me. So far in Aulantis there is nothing, nothing until one night there is this mysterious rattling of the windows.

Not once or twice but three times. Very scary since the window is one and half stories up. Too scared to get up and look out the window. I just lay awake all night. The next night nothing. Nothing the next day or that evening.

Maybe it was just a fluke. I think this Aulantis place is alright. I even got myself a little job. Things are going fine until I tried to imagine the face of the demon. Then it came to me. The place where I work is the demon. It thrives on mass murder. Death is everywhere. Without realizing, my job is is to keep the murder going and to make sure the product is shipped. If I don’t, I will wind up dead in a box delivered to whatever demons in the world would consume such a thing. I never thought. I have never been alive. I was always dead. I never should have worried about hell. I’ve been here all along.
