Leon prepared for his appointment, hoping better weather would draw near.

The rain fell incessantly.

How could he leave the house in this kind of weather?

Leon despised driving in the rain. Nearly every auto accident he’d ever been involved with took place in stormy weather.

He’d reached the point of wanting to never drive when inclement weather threatened.

The time for his appointment loomed soon, and the rain showed no signs of calming.

Leon stood at the window watching the storm’s intensity build.

Would it ever stop?!

Was he going to be forced to cancel his appointment?

He glared at his watch, still early afternoon, but the dark storm clouds made it appear like dusk.

The rain fell ever so harder.

How much longer could it go on like this?

Leon looked at the phone. He reached for it, thinking he’d just have to reschedule his appointment.

How could he do that?

It’d taken a month waiting for this time slot. How much longer might he have to wait? Even then there’d be no guarantee the weather would be any better that day.

Leon stepped back to the window.

When would it let up?!

The torrent continued to grow.

Leon screamed curses at the clouds.

They only answered with more rain.

Kind of weird, it doesn\’t have much meaning.

    Joe,

Yes, it is weird, and its meaning is embodied within an examination of an obsessive compulsive personality.

I relate this to anxiety disorders and phobia. I’ve had a fear of driving ever since my sister was killed in a car accident by a drunk driver. The very thought of driving makes me nervous. I relate to the tormenting and terrifying thoughts that “Leon” experiences. Like him, I recognize the irrational fear, but I’m still unable to find ways of controlling or silencing it.
