Just the beginning but I could use any constructive critisism…

*Seventeen years later*

We lycans have been able to live among humans and vampires for centuries. War and bloodshed is all we’ve known. They have always been about the same thing: vampires and werewolves fighting for dominance. Humans have no idea that either race exists, but they are inferior to us. Lycans are equal in power with vampires. Therefore, the number of casualties on either side of the battlefield is the same. The lycan Council hope that, with my help, things will change.

I am what people call a hybrid. Both vampire and lycan blood runs through my veins. I suppose that I should be proud considering that I am the first of my kind, but you must understand my background and how I came to be to begin to see why I try so hard to act like a normal seventeen year old girl.

My mom was one of the most respected and successful women of our lycan clan. She had it all: looks, money, a beautiful house and great friends. But I guess she wasn’t satisfied with that because she did something that made her lose everything she had worked so hard for.

She fell in love with a vampire.

I guess things would’ve been okay if, when confronted by the Council, She had just walked away from the relationship. Instead, after I was born, she fought to be with the one she loved.

For her disobedience, she was executed by firing squad.

Honestly, I don’t know why my mom fought to stay with him. He didn’t even come forward and claim me. Maybe that has to do with the fact that he probably would’ve been killed as well, but still. He could’ve made an effort.

After my mom’s execution, I was sent to stay with Alexia, the youngest member of the Council (only a hundred years old but she looks like she’s thirty. Vampires and werewolves don’t age like humans). She’s very nice to me but she thinks that I’m “bitter” about my mom.

Please.

Not that being a hybrid doesn’t have its perks. I don’t phase like werewolves and I don’t need blood like vampires. Since I’m the only one of my kind, the Council can only make guesses as to why that is.

But I had other things to worry about then having a sudden urge to rip out someone’s throat and drinking all of their blood.

Like today for example. Today was one of the most scariest days of my life.

Today was my first day of senior year.

Since I don’t phase or drink blood, I live a normal life among humans most of the time. Today was one of those times. I wanted to make something of myself and I sure can’t do that without an education. My mom sure didn’t.
