This is a short story about how I met this guy only to be stood up by him on a date. Would you have given him another chance to redeem himself? Or would you give him the red slip?
There were alot of different promotional booths that were there, so curiousity had taken me to stop by some of them….was seeing what freebies I could take home. I came across this one company that was promoting its product til a set of brown eyes and a shy smile enlightened me. I wasn’t even sure if they were enlightened by my presence but nevertheless, I took the chance on offering my phone number to this person. To my surprise, he was more than happy to receive it! From that time, we both talked to each other by phone on some days and nights.
This “smooth operator” came out of his way to meet me inside my neighborhood from another neighborhood that was a good distance, and he didn’t mind at all. We both went out to a nice restaurant, ate, and talked some more about a topic or two, and boy, the attraction elevated! At the end, as we were about to apart our ways, we gave each other a little hug and said our good-byes. The next day and night after that, we were both back on the phone enjoying each other voices once again then it was said to me how he wanted to see me again and soon. I couldn’t resist but to tell him YES, WHEN, and WHERE then the date was set.
That evening had came around, and I made sure that everything was in place: what I was wearing, an idea that could go by being spontaneous, and some protection for possible pleasure. The set up was that he would call me and I go to meet up with him downtown once he got off of work, so then, I was on my way.
During the course of my travel, he text me to see where I was and that I was alright. It wasn’t until I got close to my destination on where we were suppose to meet that I couldn’t get in contact with him at all afterward. I arrived at, which I thought, was his place of work, only to never hear from him again that night. The very last time I’ve ever heard from him was that he was getting ready and all I had to do was wait for a few minutes. Well, those few minutes turned into a few moments, then those few moments turned into a few hours! Never to be seen or heard from again. Because of that, I had to come back home in a cab due to the fact that it was too late for a pretty looking woman like myself to be out by herself. Totally embarrassed and disappointed for sure!
The next day arrives and I get a text from him stating that he lost his phone and just got it back then will explain to me what happened later. Well, as I shouldn’t have been surprised, he never called me back ever again. Going through the same cycle again, a few days turned into a few weeks, then a few weeks turned into a few months until I decided that was it, his name is getting erased off of my phone. One day, I received a call but didn’t recognize the number. Once the caller said their name, I was floored! All I heard was the saying over again like “Give me a chance to explain…” “I miss you…” and “I’m so sorry…”, and I just simply told him that it’s cool for I got over it and moved on. He had hoped that I would get back in contact with him in hopes of starting over.
Red slip. Yes or no? Hmmm………How would you decide?
