The first date for Reginald in twenty years! and an ending you can decide?

Reginald’s date!

Reginald looked in the full length mirror in his spare bedroom, he never normally did this, he was not body proud but tonight! He thought,

“Designer shirt Ralph Lauren black brushed cloth with a lining smooth! The new jeans fit just as well as the new shirt, its even got buttons on the fly instead of a zip, Levi 501’s classic, cool. New black cowboy boots but not with loads of flowers or markings on nothing that could be taken as gay, the boots even looked like shoes with the 501’s over the top. The new silver dollar hair cut it worked he looked younger than his 48 years”

The antique carriage clock downstairs chimed 7.00pm it was now or never! Reg walked to the Piccadilly line station at New Southgate in London. Reg stood on the cold station wrapped in his cream coloured trench coat it was cold! The white and black station clock read 7.07pm Reg so hoped the 7.10pm to Covent Garden would be on time he knew Maria would be on time they had worked together for 2 years and not once had she been late in two years.

Reg mused how it was only Thursday when Maria had agreed to meet for a date on Saturday night in the ’Punch and Judy’ pub in Covent Garden! Maria was 37 and Reg was 48 Reg thought,

“What’s 11 years? I mean she said and I quote ‘she would love to go out with me for a date’ and further said why did it take me so long there is something between us its obvious!”

Reg smiled into the window opposite as the London underground train jerked around the Victorian tracks. Being in total darkness on the Underground the Tube train windows become mirrors only in reverse. Reg caught site of his reflection!

“Oh no! what do I look like! All trust up like a chicken, not a hair out of place, all brushed and shaved with Polo aftershave on. Ok Reg calm down you couldn’t turn up in old tatty jeans and a crumpled shirt you have had since for ever, just calm the chuff down!”

The tube train rattled over the bumpy tracks and standing passengers swayed as they held onto the plastic grab handles. Covent Garden was two stops away! Reg drew in a deep breath and thought,

DLB…sadly it looks like people are missing the joy of selecting their own ending for this exercise…at first I thought Reg would catch up to the woman and her son and escort them to some of the sights and sounds of Chinatown and talk his way into the mother’s heart and end up with a ready-made family to share his life with…but then I thought that he should probably meet up with Maria…being true to his word because it would be wrong to stand her up knowing that she had proven her promptness and reliability…great qualities in a woman – so final analysis is Punch and Judy Pub and the beginning of his new life with Maria…it was a tough decision upon first read, but the correct one in the end…I voted that I like this one…thanks and take care
