When a relationship goes wrong, it rarely fixes itself like in the movies. In reality, it gets worse.

“I don’t care about what you say anymore! Our relationship ended the moment you started one with that woman! Don’t pretend you don’t know who I’m talking about!”

It was a chilly Saturday night and Celina was fuming as she hung up walked down the airport towards her terminal. What a fool she had been to put her trust in Michael for such a long time! All the times she had thought her happiness with Michael would never end, had been lies. She had lived together with him in Sydney for over a year blindly believing that they would eventually get married and live happily ever after. Celina never thought for a moment that it would end so quickly and that she be the one to end it.

Tears slowly began to swell in her eyes and she rubbed her eyes with her sleeve. As she brought her arm up to her face, she saw the engagement ring that Michael had given her just a few weeks ago. She stopped abruptly and tore the ring from her finger. It meant nothing to her now and would remind her of nothing but her naïve and tragic relationship. With trembling fingers, she dropped the ring into the garbage bin.

In fear of picking the ring up again, Celina hurriedly walked away from the bin towards her terminal. As she did, her mobile rang in her handbag. Without hesitation, Celina ended the call when she saw who it was from. It was too late for him to apologize, and it was definitely too late for their relationship to be salvaged. It was clear that Michael no longer needed her when he already had that other woman.

Earlier that day, Celina was on her way home from buying the groceries when she saw Michael having lunch with another woman at the local café. Admittedly, she was extremely beautiful and undoubtedly the envy of many women. Michael seemed to be ecstatic while talking to this woman and the two of them seemed to be constantly laughing together.  Unable to comprehend the situation, Celina dropped her groceries and rushed back to the apartment she shared with Michael. With tears on the verge of cascading down her face, Celina packed her luggage furiously.

Upon arriving at Sydney Airport, she immediately purchased a ticket back to Surrey, where her parents lived. Call after call she rejected until eventually, she picked up the phone. Hiding her urge to sob, Celina spoke to Michael in the angriest tone she could manage.
