Three chapters from my upcomming novel.

JANUARY 1st, 2032 – REMINISCE

Beginning of a new day, Aslam was sunk deep in his thoughts as most of the time he does unconsciously. With a cup of coffee in his hand he looked at the raising sun through his window pane. He was completely out of his senses and was thinking about his past and all that he had been through.

Aslam was a man in his early forties having Dark brown silky hair, which fell on his forehead like he never cared to comb them, olive toned skin, big eyes and a straight nose; he was a large build, with long, lanky arms and legs. He was a practising auditor by profession, numbers were his life and second wife. He would be occupied in his work most of the time, keeping his mind always busy. He had no interest in anything and cared less to spend time to maintain a healthy relationship with his family. He’d always stay silent , talking to people only when there is a need. He’d be cold to his wife although he knows he means whole world to her. He would speak out a single sentence while his wife would have spoken hundreds of paragraphs. Apart from the numbers, Accounting Standards and Taxation, he had a hobby of drawing. He’d sit for wee hours with his pencil, sketching portraits on canvas; He was fascinated by Human faces. Despite his discontented attitude towards life, he would be a little cheerful when he is around children, he was fond of little girls whom he met at the entrance of the school besides his office. He is shy and avoids places which are crowded. He talks barely to his neighbours let alone strangers. He is bound by his watch, Always going by the time. He had a strange habit of monitoring the time he took to do everything.

Everyday Aslam would wake up exactly at 5.30 am, Take a bath and go on for a walk around the city for an hour. When he comes back from his walk, his wife would have set the breakfast on the table. He would eat the food within 15 minutes and then will go sit on the couch with his newspaper. He’d spend half an hour with his paper made companion, trying to extract as much of information as he can within that time. All events precisely timed by his wrist watch. Around 7.30 am he would leave his home to his office. His office was 5 streets away from his home. He’d go to his office in car, although he preferred to walk his way to his office. He was compelled by his status as a auditor to use a car. He’s a dedicated man, who go though every detail of business and accounting aspects of his clients. He’d go on with his work only taking a lunch break of half and hour and a coffee break of five minutes. All precise by his watch. In the evening at around 4′O clock he’d stop all his work and would go by his window pane to see the children going to their home from the school. It reminded him of something. He’d stay there as long as he can, watching as every little girl pass by. Then returning to his work as usual. He’d stay in his office till 8 pm and then drive back his way to home. Dinner would be ready on his arrival, after dinner Aslam would watch his favourite show “Into the universe with stephen hawking” for an hour and after a little talk with his wife he’d go to sleep.
