We left Robert tied to a tree. The soldiers had hope that the elements or a wild animal would be his destruction. But, some monks on a crusade stumble upon him with the right answers he could be free.
The night brought out the sounds of the forest. It brought him peace that would go away when remembered his predicament. His legs burned with pain as well as his feet from standing most of the day.
He thought, Robert you blasted fool. What were you thinking. You knew nothing of this Knight, Justice.
He let out a loud scream that echoed throughout the forest.
He thoughts turned back to his so called fellow soldiers. They did not have to tie me to this tree. I meant no harm to them. I just want out of that damp room for the day. I wanted to soak in the warmth of the Sun.
And indeed he did soak in the Sun’s warmth that it made him sweat. Now, the wetness of his clothes merged with the coolness of the night that made him shiver. The heat of the day also left his mouth dry. The dryness of his mouth made it difficult to swallow. Just as his current situation caused all loss of hope, he heard a sound. A sound different from those of the forest creatures.
The sound had a harmony to it. As the sound grew louder he could now discern the sound. Yes, it did not come from the forest creatures, but from humans.
Then he heard the brush and sticks being crushed along with the singing. The sounds grew closer and closer, and they stopped.
Robert’s body tensed up with both excitement and fear, but fear finally won. He started to shiver even more, as waited his fate. His mind hoped that these makers of the sound would passover him. He did want to die. He never wanted to die not even a slow painful death.
His thoughts changed to his father. An evil man, Maybe he found out that I am tied to this tree. Maybe he sent these humans to kill me. Yes my father has sent them.
Just then a dark figure stood a few feet away from him. The darkness of the forest made it impossible to see exactness of the figure.
