Police brutality / The reality.

I am a retired journalist/reporter from the Radio Broadcasting industry in Alberta,Canada. As with most peoples lives mine has had up and downs. I have lived on the streets/ literally at various times through my life. I myself have never been seriously abused by the police, but some of the things I have seen in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Kelowna along with televised events makes me wonder what people think about the policing system in general in North America.

Now don’t get me wrong in any way shap or form. We all know what the world would be like without the boys in blue. In no way is this article trying to paint the veiw of police “black or blue”, it’s just information, it’s up to the person to investigate and make their own conclusions, if they are interested in what’s going on in the world.

My father once said “Not all cops are a__holes, but it only takes a few to give the whole group a bad name. Over the years, the things I have witnessed, have proved that without a doubt. The only things that really get my blood flowing is how firstly they all protect each other, lie for each other and get slapped on the wrist for crimes that regular Joe’s go behind bars for. Then there’s the infamous time off with pay punishment for crimes that would not only would normally at the4 minimum be a fine but also usually include jail time.

As recently as six months ago, I was watching t.v. with a friend when we both heard a siren out front. I live in the inner city of Edmonton, Canada now and hearing a siren is a regular thing, but when it’s close to home like right out front, people tend to pay attention. A police officer had stopped a car that had just pulled into a parking lot. From what we could at that moment, there was two people in the car. Police officer standing at the drivers door, for about four minutes seemed like just another routine stop. NOT SO.

At the time only one police officer was on site. As we observed this situation, we watched the drivers side door open, the driver get out and was cuffed right then. Immediately this man was shoved to the ground and the officer was on top of him swinging. A couple of people had gathered across the street having their attention grabbed as the handcuffed man was screaming at the top of his lungs, ”please stop hitting me, I’m co-operating” over and over again.
