Chapter one of a short story.

Chapter 1

I sat on my bed staring at the picture of me and my three best friends sitting on a bench in Rome. My eyes started to water when I think about all the good times I had here in Italy. Florence is a big city and I’ve explored every inch of the city and other cities, too. But Florence is the most special because this is where my best friends and my boyfriend are. I remembered the first day I was in this room. I was thirteen and I was weeping because I wasn’t used to the new room. The pink walls were different now, the color have been changed when I redecorated two years ago. Now the color was sky blue and the room  was empty. The room as still bright from sun shining through the French doors that led to the balcony. Today was my last day in Florence; I’ll be heading off to the airport in a few minutes but I wanted to remember the room where I had the best memories.

I heard my mother calling me that it was time to leave or we’ll miss our plane. I shoved the picture in my bag and left the room. I walked down the stairs to an empty living room. My mother was standing by the door, her eyes wondering the place. She gave me a smile and I had to give her one back.

My eyes stared at the big house for more than a minute. My mind was full of flash back that I didn’t notice my father honking the horn. My fourteen year old sister was sitting in the back playing with her phone. She didn’t take any notice that father was honking the horn and mother was telling me to get in the car. I sighed then said goodbye.

I pulled opened the car door and slid in next to my sister. She took a glance of my sad face. She gave me a smiled that said every thing will be fine. I smiled back, a half smiled. I turned to face the window. the house was slowly disappearing as my father stepped on the gas pedal. My heart will never leave Italy.
