ROOSTER

Troy AWSOME
Hello my name is rooster and here the day my life changed forever. This story begins on a dark and stormy night. Nah I’m just kidding it was actually a pretty good morning when I woke up in my room. I had this weird dream about this blinding light outside of my window down by the chicken house. Oh I almost forgot. I live on a chicken farm down in South Carolina. It a nice little town we live in. it pretty. Oh yeah back the other dream. Where was I oh yeah I had just saw the light But when I went to see what it was I woke up. I was sweating really badly. I thought it was nothing and went to go take a shower. I thought about my dream the whole time I got dressed but then I forgot about when the worst thing happened to me. I turned on my blow-dryer unaware of the awaiting baby powder it was filled with. I’m sure you know what happens next. It was no other than my little sister getting back at me for the time I scared her half to death. I wasn’t mad at her at all. I started laughing and went down stairs to the smell of my mom cooking blueberry pancakes on her new stove she got for her birthday last week. She loved to cook all the time. We usually never went out to eat and I was happy for that. One my mom made the best food anyone will ever make. I gave my sister a big bear hug a squeezed her till she screamed then gave her a high five for that perfect prank. I and my sister have always messed with each other but like the usually brothers and sister we spent a lot of the time together. We were only 1 year apart so we had a lot in common. We watch out for each other and heck we even played the same video games but as usual though I was always the best at the video games because guy are just better than women at that. So as we sat down mom didn’t look to happy. She acted as usual but me and my sister, by the way her name is sally, knew something was wrong. In the middle of breakfast she asked how we slept. Sally said fine and I said fine to. I wasn’t going to tell her about my dream. We finished and me and sally cleaned up when she asked, “hey rooster do you think sumdins wrong with mum.” I wondered for a little bit and responded, “Nah she fine doesn’t worry about it ok.” She huffed and nodded. When we finished we went up to be rooms. About 1 hour later mom called us down to her room. I knew something was bad because I could see she was whipping the tears off of her cheek trying to hide that she was crying but it didn’t work because she started crying again. Me and sally both went to her and hugged her and sally finally asked, “What wrong mum, why are you crying.” She stopped crying and responded with a whimper, “It’s your farther.” I knew why she was crying now. See are farther was a helicopter pilot in the military. He was deployed overseas. He was supposed to come home e in 3 days he told us when he called 2 days ago. Today we were getting ready for him to come home tomorrow. He had been gone for a year now. My mom continued crying for a little bit then she said, “he was on his last mission, he said it was just moving some supplies and that he was going to be home in no time.” My sister started to cry. “H was on his way back when he was shot down, no one survived.” I didn’t know what to say or do. I couldn’t believe it at all. I didn’t know if I should start crying or be mad. I didn’t know what to do. I just sat there staring at the floor while my mother and sister cried. I didn’t cry didn’t do anything just sat there. Feeling dead inside.
