Narrator: I will be playing the part of the narrator; Rabia will be playing the wife, Nimar will be playing the husband, Amira will be their daughter, and Zachary will be playing the role of the Apothecary, who is married to the daughter.

-Father enters-

Mother: “Where have you been?”

Father: “I had some pains all over my body… I just needed to get some prescription medicine. I am going to be working tomorrow… so I need you to pick up the medicine for me.”

Mother: “Alright.”

Narrator: The next morning

Mother: “here is my husband’s prescription. He is working today so I came to pick it up”

Apothecary: “That’s odd…your husband told me he would be off today to pick up his medicine. And I find it especially weird that my wife took the day off.

Mother: “Hmm…yes, I find that weird as well. Oh well, I guess it’s just a coincidence.”

Apothecary: “Anyways… here is some mint for his stomach cramp pains…lavender for his head pains…and some comfrey for his lung problems.”

Mother: “Thanks.”

Apothecary: “Take care now.”

-Apothecary Exits-

Narrator: The next day.

Mother: “How are you feeling dear? Any better?”

Father: “A lot better. I haven’t felt this good since we had our daughter.”

Mother: “What is that supposed to mean?”

Father: “Uh…….it means that um…… that I am thankful for….. our medicine!”

-Daughter enters-

Daughter: “Dad! Is that you? You look well and you look like you’re not in pain anymore.”

Father: “Oh thank god I am saved!

Mother: “From what?”

Father: “NOTHING!!!”

Narrator: A few months later…

Daughter: “Mother, I think I am going to be sick, take me to the doctor right away!”

Mother: “We cannot afford it my dear; I must take you to the apothecary. He provides the same services as a doctor and is much cheaper.”

-Apothecary enters-

Apothecary: “What do we have here?”

Mother: “My daughter is not feeling well at all…can you prescribe something that will make her feel better?

Apothecary: “Let me take a look at her. Hmm…it appears that…SHE IS… PREGNANT? HOW COULD…WE NEVER…THAT ISN’T…

-Apothecary faints-

-Apothecary exits-

Mother: “Whose son is it my dear?”

Daughter: “It is that of my fathers…”

Narrator: The end

Apothecaries are just a fancy word for a pharmacist, also known as a drug dispenser. Priests usually became apothecaries and were basically another version of a doctor, who provides good services for a cheap price. But what do apothecaries do? – People that go to the doctor get a prescription, which they take to the apothecary to receive the medicine. The medicine back then was completely different. If time could be controlled, we could forward or rewind time. Therefore the technologies available to us would advance or retract. For example, if we went back in time to the Elizabethan times, we would find that basic medicines were used. They believed that the smell of lavender would ease the worst of headaches. In this day and age, we can simply take an Advil pill. Aside from that, they believed if your skin turned pinkish red, you had impure blood; thus they would remove it with leeches.
