Seventeen minutes ago Sameer was sitting in his house, bored. He decided that it would be the perfect time to call his best friend, Jose.
Jose answered the call and said he would be over right away and he was bringing a surprise. Sameer could not wait, luckily he did not have to wait very long, Jose lived only two minutes away.
Jose walked out of his house carrying a wrapped package. It had snowed very heavily the night before and the roads were very icy. Jose knew he had to be careful and took many baby steps just to get off of his front porch. As he entered the street, he heard a noise, turned a little bit too quickly, and began to slip. His shoes were not made for walking on the ice and he fell, hard. It took Jose a little while to get back up, but he was more worried about the package. The package seemed fine, just a little snow on it, and he continued on his way to Sameer’s house.
Sameer was so excited for his surprise that he began to pace back and forth in his living room thinking of possibilities. What could it be? A car, a puppy, it could be anything. He was getting antsy and decided that it would be best if he just sat in his kitchen and ate a little bit of food to get his mind off of the surprise. After all, Jose would be there very soon.
Jose continued his trek through the snow to Sameer’s house after getting back up. The package was safe and he was extremely excited to give it to Sameer. Jose had finally made it onto the street, where a large number of kids were playing in the snow. He looked both ways to make sure there were no rogue snowballs and began to walk. Jose took his first step onto the street and all the children turned their eyes directly to him. Jose froze up, he did not know what to do. One more step, the children reached down into the snow. Jose knew what was coming, but did not want it to happen. He gripped the package tightly and took a few more steps as snowballs began to fly from every direction. Jose was pelted everywhere. A particularly buff child targeted the box and hit it perfectly. The box was scrunched slightly and Jose was mortified. He began to run towards Sameer’s house without turning back.
Sameer walked into his kitchen and searched through all the cabinets. He was not hungry at the time but he knew that he should eat a little something before Jose arrived to keep up his energy. Sameer was a masterful chef, he cooked everything. He started boiling up some water for spaghetti, it was just a quick meal for him after all. When his spaghetti was done he looked back at the clock, it had been seven minutes. He shrugged to himself and thought Jose was just being tardy as usual.
