Summary.

In this chapter Bohm enlightens on the working of the human brain which at different stages experiences different moods, resulting in different answers at separate times. She presents logics as to the different thinking of the brain, the different set of thoughts it produces –after rest, after continuous work and after multiple tasks. After a sufficient rest , the positive thoughts are emitted  by brain whereas  after an unrested interval, it sends out negative thoughts.

A brilliant analysis of addition also comes to fore in this chapter  Bohm discusses the medical as well as mental aspects of addictive drugs such as morphene, which play with the brain and more or less destructive. They alter the mental and physical states of the “Takers mind and that disturbs Neuro  physiological process” there are lots of questions that are amazingly answered but the one on page 45 is my favorite.  The one about “Positive thinking “and “Schizophrenic Duality”. I was wondering before I read that question that won’t the presence of negative and positive thinking results in personality clash , in short schizophrenic……… but the answer cleared up my mind.

“If somebody wants to engage in positive thinking, its only because he is already caught up in negative thinking “this shows that the writer knows all there is to know about the working of the brain.

The writer also discusses the end of it all. She says that “The question of death is very long and subtle” and I couldn’t agree more. She is right in pointing out that life and death are part and parcel of the brain’s working and that death doesn’t mean the end because the brain might use life, but the universe doesn’t.

Althought she has given a lot of examples, the example of Hitler on page 60 is spot on. She says that Hitler was born due to the incoherence in the system. It was not only his genes but the fact that Austria in those days was not as progressive as it is now , helped in making him what he became. At his father’s merciless beating and Hitler’s polluted thinking that all Jews are bad and all that made him the monster he was. The writer also concludes that had Hitler been born somewhere else , he might have been a great genius.

After the break the writer discusses the importance of reflexes on the brain. If a person is attacked she says that the attack person’s only and most logical reaction has to be defensive. That neither is anticipated nor expected, making  reflex action very important to the brains and integral part of psychological analysis.

I am very honored to have gone through this chapter “Saturday Morning” where” thought as a system” is discussed in detail. It is an enlightening study of the human brain , and has more positive impact after reading , then negative.
