Working Title: A Day at the “Moviez”

Character Name & Descriptions:

Carl: A 12 year old boy in Grade 7. He and Leo are best friends. They both have very distinct tastes for movies, he loving classics. He hates all new actors, believing that they are completely “plastic and fake”.

Leo: A 12 year old boy in Grade 7. He and Carl are best friends. He enjoys new and popular movies, with all the new actors. He doesn’t like “old-time movies” because he thinks that there is not enough action.

Assistant: A 23 year old woman who works at the video store. She helps customers decide which movie they want. She hates her job, and most customers who want to rent movies, especially children.

Location: At the “Magic Moviez” video store, on a Saturday afternoon.

Dramatic Situation: Leo and Carl, both having very different movie preferences, want to rent a movie, but can’t find one that suits both of them. They don’t understand each other’s movie choices, and are quite annoyed.

Rising Action:  After they arrive at the store and talk about school, they search for movies, but they cannot find a movie that both of them like. They decide to enlist the help of the sarcastic assistant. At first she is rude, but when she realizes that neither of them understands her, she decides it will be quicker to just choose a movie for them. She finally finds a movie, Battle of The Monsters that is black and white, but has enough action for Leo.

Climax: The assistant goes to the front desk to get the movie. She searches, and finds out it has already been rented.

Conclusion/Resolution: Leo and Carl decide that choosing a movie is too hard, so they go to a book store and read books the entire day.
