Horror in the maternity ward.

She awoke in her hospital bed with only one question: “Where’s my baby?” The doctors and nurses around her only looked at each other as if they all knew an uncomfortable secret. The woman knew something was wrong.

“Where is it? You must tell me.” She was beginning to become frantic before the doctors decided to bring in her child. Through the hospital door walked the woman’s husband, with a pink bundle in his arms. She couldn’t help but notice a less than joyous look on his face as he looked down at the child and nothing else. He handed her the child and she looked into the blanket. To her horror, this newborn child, the fruits of her hours of labor, looked nothing like a child at all. It didn’t even look human.

The child’s skin seemed to float on the baby’s muscle as water floats on paper. The slightest movement wrinkled and tore the child’s skin, which oozed a pale yellow liquid. Its body was contorted into an unnatural model of bones and organs seemingly placed in their awry positions on purpose. The most disturbing sight of this already terrifying child, however, was on its face. Above the child’s nose were two solid red orbs, bulging from the child’s head. She looked in horror at the child, and could only mutter, “What have we created?”

The husband said aloud with a slight sense of pride, “It’s not all bad, dear. At least she has my eyes.”
