Silence is Golden

The sea, a vast expanse of some of the darkest secrets known to man, some that

remain locked away in eternity, and others, that reveal themselves to the most

unsuspecting victims… This is one of those special occasions.

One day Daniel and Steven, two adrenaline junkies, who were the best of friends,

had planned to go shark diving for the weekend. They had done this many times before

but this weekend was special. Daniel and Steven were going to a secluded area far off the

coast of Cuba, to be the first to ever dive there.

It was bright, and there was an intense heat beating down on Daniel and Steven’s

foreheads as they geared up on the shore just before jumping into the new boat they had

rented. There was a deep silence as they drove out, aside from the loud hum of the motor

and the occasional screech of a seagull. As a half an hour past and the site of Cuba was

long gone they looked on the G.P.S. to see that they were finally closing in on their choice

spot. As a pre-caution Daniel went first in the shark cage with a harpoon gun gripped in

both hands. Daniel was disappointed, as the water was dark, murky, and warm. The three

things you never want when you’re diving. Daniel, speculating left and right was

scanning the water for any sharks. At first, he didn’t see anything, but just then something

caught his eye. There was a dark mass in the distance and it wasn’t quite clear how big or

far it was, after all it was almost a miracle he saw it in the first place given the conditions

of the water. Steven anxiously watching the security line, finally saw that Daniel was

tugging on the rope and pulled him up. “Conditions are bad, but I think I spotted out what

looks like a great white. We could harpoon the brute and break some records.” Said

Daniel.

“Alright. We’ll go check it out but I don’t suppose you’ll want to be in the water

too long with a ten ton man eater.” Steven replied.

“That’s why you’re coming with me”, said Daniel.
