A boy who just wanted to fit in.

When they got to Mez’s house, the door was open. The policeman walked inside and saw a whole group of teenage boys drunk and sleeping with the sports trophy! The policeman handcuffed the four or five boys and brought them into the police car. On the way to the police station, Mez was too drunk to realise that Adrian was the one who dobbed him in. “It makes sense now; he stole the trophy and wanted me to break in to get caught so he wouldn”t get caught. Fortunately, his plan didn’t work,’ Adrian thought.

The next day at school, everyone was talking about Mez and the crew. Everybody gave Adrian the evil eye. “Hey, isn’t that the kid that put Mez into Centro Juvie?” A student said to another. “Yeah it is! He’s called Adrian or something.” The other student replied. Adrian felt bad. Even though he had got his revenge, he had a guilty conscience. Adrian thought, “Maybe I should visit him. Centro Juvie’s not that far.”

After school was over, Adrian made his way to Centro Juvie. There were barbed wire fences and a few security guards around the area. Adrian walked through the doors and asked for a M.J Smith. The reception person walked over to Mez’s room. “Oi, Martin! You got a visitor!” Mez made his way to the visiting room.

“Hey Mez.” Adrian greeted.

“What the hell do you want mate? You already put me in juvie.” Mez replied

“Yes, I think I know that now, but you see, I can’t seem to get through days now. I have a guilty conscience for putting you in here.”

“And?”

“Well I was wondering if there was anything I could do for you.”

“Well… I’m only in here for another two weeks. Try and tell the guy in charge to make it one more week.”

“Ok mate, I’ll try.”

Adrian left the visitor room and went back to reception to look for a man in charge. “Excuse me, do you know who is in charge of this place?” Adrian asked in his nicest voice.

“Go down that corridor and turn on your second door.” The receptionist said and pointed to the right of Adrian. Adrian knocked on the door. He saw a sign on the door. Centro Juvenile Manager – Derek Jones. “Come in!” A person called out from the inside. Adrian walked in. A big hairy man with short dark hair and wide shoulders hanging out of his black leather office chair with his back turned towards me. He didn’t say anything. “I was wondering…” Adrian said until Mr. Jones turned around. Adrian kept speaking, “If I could do anything that would let an M.J Smith out one week early.” Mr. Jones was buff. He had muscles the size of bowling balls.

“Well, you can unload all of today’s food for me and then I’ll let your friend go early. Just go out through that door and say Derek sent you.” Mr. Jones said as he pointed to a door outside.

Adrian saw a deliveryman outside. “Has Derek sent you?” The deliveryman asked. Adrian nodded. “Ok just bring these into the cafeteria.” The deliveryman said. He opened the door of the van. There were only a few boxes to bring. After Adrian did this, he headed off to Mr. Jones’ office. Adrian knocked on the door. “Come in!” Mr. Jones said. Adrian walked in. “So you’ve done your task, eh?” Mr. Jones asked. Adrian nodded. “Okay, well I can’t let your friend go early but you can tell your friend you tried.”

“Mez! I tried my best, but he just won’t let you!” Adrian said with excitement.

“It’s cool.” Mez said.

“So we’re friends now?”

“Sure.”

“Okay, I’ll meet you back at school! Bye!”

“Bye.”

The next day at school, Mez’s gang confronted Adrian. Adrian was nervous. “Thanks Adrian for trying to get Mez out, you did your best.” Marc said.

“Thanks, I guess.” Adrian replied

“So you wanna come for a skate when Mez is back out?”

“Yeah, sure”

“I’ll message you when we organise it.”

“Bye then.”

“Bye”
