Wildlife has been depleted:
Many countries allow the slaughter of wild animals, without stopping to think of the damage this slaughter is doing to so many species. These species have evolved over thousands of years just the same as the human race, deserving our respect as well as space and environment of their own.
United Kingdom has over the year’s depleted otters, foxes, badgers, deer and hares through hunting and culls by farmers who do not want them on their land. It is true foxhunting has ceased for the present, but the present government is committed to allow the return of hunting. One thing hunting and loss of habitat did to the fox population was to urbanise it, when land was taken from them and now they live in our towns and cities which they would have normally stayed well away from.
Japan still-hunts whales in the guise of research, unfortunately that argument do not hold up as the whale meat quickly finds itself on the menus of restaurants. Northern Right, Southern Right, Bowheads, Blues, Fin, Humpback and Sperm Whales to name a few have become names on the endangered species list.
Australia still allows annual culls of the rapidly vanishing Kangaroos, which are being slaughtered for their meat and hide. In some areas this animal has all but vanished, sadly this is to the detriment of all.
Iceland still allows the horrendous slaughter of seal pups, with many thousands each year being clubbed to death. Why you might ask, certainly not for the meat on them but the pelts are used and this is the only reason.
Shark and sea turtle fining goes on around the world in many places, most of it done on live animals. Not even the basic compassion of taking the animals life first, just the barbaric side of humans taking what they want without caring about the suffering.
In the United States, the once great herds of buffalo were hunted nearly into extinction, the same as the beaver and wolf. Some conversation work has been done on them to bring back up the numbers, but with space becoming smaller, these animals will never recover. More needs to be done and space left wild for them to roam, without them this world will become a much poorer place.
