Have you been awake for the whole night?

The blue sky was covered by dark clouds again. The bright sun retired manifested by hiding from the dark clouds. The moon started to welcome night by its dreamy light. The singing of cicadas and chirping of birds would give delight to those nature-lovers but for me could consider them as great factors of disturbance.

A wind of fear blew into my face and then crept into my veins. I turned on the television and watched evening TV shows until nine. The cold emotion I have has been lessened but when I went upstairs to sleep, the fear disturbed me again. It was a damn, sleepless night.

The time moved so slow that I wished the sun to rise again. The pendulum startled my thought when it reached midnight. I just couldn’t drive myself to sleep though I tried hard. I was tired of being awake. Many times I’d changed my sleeping position. I’d tossed and turned in my bed. I rose from my bed and sat down staring at the moon outside the open window. The stars tried to impress me by their twinkling lights but I wasn’t interested.

A strange bird with a horrible chirp passed by. Then I remembered a story about ghosts but it didn’t affect me so much because I was bothered more on how I could fall asleep and I started singing “Knock-knock-knocking on Heaven’s Door”. I wanted to scream out loud to knock the moon down but it is impossible.

The cocks started to crow. It was getting brighter then. The trees, the sun and everything made visible. I didn’t sleep well again but I thanked God for I’m still alive.

This used to happen me a lot when I was younger, and still does from time to time. Thankfully not so often anymore though :)
