Compiled Opinions About Ghost Presence.

After my previous article, “Why Most of Us Don’t See Ghosts” I find it fitting to follow up with another sequel since ghost stories are dreadful subjects when you’re alone but an exciting topic for dialogue when you’re with a companion. So be sure you’re with somebody when you read this article. I mean somebody alive, not the one just standing there beside you but you can’t see and talk (kidding). It’s a matter of how we see it really, although I’m faint hearted myself. Fear of ghosts could be compared to a person who doesn’t know what a mirror is. Seeing one, he was amazed with a shiny piece of ‘metallic’ rectangular thing with wooden frame at the sides. He took it and stared at it in close range and saw himself. Seeing his shocked face reflected he panicked and was overcome by dread.

As of 20 October 2009 (2 days ago) the world population was estimated by the United States Census Bureau at 6.792 billion (Wikipedia). If we should think about the beginning of civilization to the present with varied estimate of how old is our planet, you just have to imagine how many ghosts we could get. If you have watched “Lord of the Rings” at that part where Aragorn summoned the ghosts of dead knights to take part in the battle against the Dark Lord Sauron, perhaps you could multiply that a hundred times and you have the estimated number of ghosts in the world to date. So if you’re afraid of ghosts, you’re simply out of place.

The Portal– We may compare this from a science fiction concept of wormholes. Certain areas around our physical plane of being exhibits certain abnormality which serves as an entry point to another world, another plane of existence or a different place in the same physical plane. Like a door, you may pass through it and arrive at another place. Psychics believe that ghosts who are often seen on a particular area maybe simply passing by from the spirit world. This “door” doesn’t apply to ghosts alone but other creatures. We may have fairies, gnomes, trolls, elves whatever. An old tree along the curve of a road maybe more than a tree, your basement maybe an outlet to another world, that old painting on the wall may extend back to another horizon; that mirror…well, just be sure it’s your face showing up. There are infinite possibilities as to how these portals may appear before our eyes. Back in our old house when I was a child, we often heard strange footsteps on the staircase before gentle knocks on the door would follow; when my aunt opened up to welcome the would-be visitor, there would be nobody outside. At one time my older cousin lost sight of me while playing near the door and after looking for hours, she told my mom I just suddenly popped out in the same spot later. Only when we did have our house renovated and allowed a psychic bless it with a priest then we were informed by the former that our door was aligned to a “busy street” where ghosts and other creatures pass through. Well as a child, I had a vague recollection of where I’ve gone during my disappearance.

I love reading about psychic phenomena and enjoyed this piece. Cynicism is one of my strong points but I’m going to begin avoiding mirrors as much as possible. The return image hasn’t been looking all that much like me lately.

    Interesting article.

Good and interesting read. When you go around asking people if they have seen ghosts, some actually admit seeing ghosts or apparitions. Some people are sensitive to psychic phenomena, while others are not even if they have open minds and read about the topic.

I wonder if you are a ghost writer. Just a joke. Absorbing article.

Where I live I keep hearing creaking noises on the stairs – really loud creaking noises – but then again it is a very old building where renovations have been done couple years prior. And I never like looking in the mirror, lol. Another fascinating read, Will.

Thanks for your comments. Next time your article gets published, you read it again patiently because it happened to me more than twice where certain lines are mixed up you could hardly notice.I suppose there is a resident ghost or poltergeist here at Triond ready to wreak havoc. Let us be brave to face our ghosts…

The Death Zone is interesting as a concept, and something I have read about before under different names. As if a place or location is just plain evil and sucks life in to it. More please.

  • clay hurtubise on Oct 24, 2009

Interesting piece. As one who sees ghost, I’m still not sure what to make of them!

when my Dad died, I was 2,000 miles away, ill and could not make it home. I woke up one morning and saw him sitting on the foot of my bed. He looked at me and vanished. I believe he came to say Goodby.
Some times since my husband passed away, I can hear him walking through the house checking on things.
    good article

I find this very interesting, i myself do not really believe in ghosts’ but lets put that aside for a moment. I have had some strange experiences in the past, i once worked in a hotel called “lainston house” that was grade 1 listed building. We had something that used to where big boots’ & walk around in the roof space above the housekeeping office. as soon as you touched the loft hatch it stopped!! This would happen every week without fail, there was also a biulding called “chudely court”, it was built on the ground of the houses old garage. It was said that mrs Chudely hung herself in the garage, on one occasion a chair moved across the second floor landing to hold a door open. when i say moved i mean all by itself within seconds’ that would put the wind up anybody.

There was also a biulding called “the Barn Flat”, this was a converted barn that was used for loundry. during the day it was fine’ but during the night it was very different. as soon as you touched the door all your hairs would stand up’ and you would go as cold as ice.

I also worked in a hotel in devon that was creepy at night, i worked as a night porter. there was a night when i looked up from reception to see a shapless shadow moving across the reception. The problem was that there was no traffic outside, thick curtains that where closed, only dim emergency light and nothing moving to cast the shadow!! when i followed it into another room’ it vanishid.

What do you all think of that?

There is a lot to think about in this article. A very detailed and well presented piece…
