This is a short story, poem, or article…not sure how to classify I wrote in honor of both my Scottish and Native American heritage. It is a vision quest type storyline.

In my eyes and spirit I can see my mother country, heritage of my name. I stand before a beautiful cliff edge in mother Scotland. I stand facing the magnificence of the world afore me. Adorning my bodice is a light sky blue Celtic gown from the feudal eras with the silver rope sash about my hips. The sleeves sail in the wind. Earth mother is breathing into my lungs. I turn my back to the visage behind me and close my eyes. The sensation of earth mother within me and sky father beckons me to join him. In my hazel eyes presages all the hope that is within my soul as I spring back from earth mother’s hand into sky father’s encirclement. I breathe deep as the sensation of earth mother’s breath encircles me as I free fall back to her. I feel no panic or grief as I hover to her, I feel as if I am flying. I turn to face her as I free fall to her. I spread my arms like I am an eagle soaring through sky father. As I near the ground I land on my feet soft as a feather, my flight with sky father to prove my soul worthy to heaven has been completed and my mission to prove to earth mother the my soul is green and pure. I kneel and touch the ground and thank them for their guidance.

I’m not sure why I decided to write it. I had a visage of me in the gown overlooking Scotland and then free fall backwards back to earth in my mind so I decided to write about it.
