A short story, called Space Zoo.
Your go” said Jack
“Check” replied Tim with a hint of glee.
“Check mate” chuckled Jack.
“Arr! Not fair” moaned Tim, “that’s 15 games you’ve won, can’t we play something else?”
“Not unless you beat me” answered Jack.
“I’m bored, can I play outside?” questioned Tim.
“Sure” said Jack.
But Tim was already outside kicking the ball into the fence.
Jack cleared up and retreated to the lounge. Jack liked the lounge with its old antique ornaments and the huge soft sofa that filled most of the room. He laid back on it and relaxed there in the peace and quiet of his own home. Suddenly he heard a yell from the garden. He quickly hopped off the sofa and ran into the garden.
Tim had been happily playing with the football when he saw a weird shaped aeroplane fly across the sky. Tim just carried on playing but then he realised that the aeroplane like vehicle was coming towards him. At that moment he let out the loud scream that made Jack come quickly.
They both looked up and as Jack was very smart he identified it as an U.F.O. They raced back inside and looked out at the garden only to find that the U.F.O had landed on their lawn.
“Stay here” commanded Jack, but Tim was too curious to stay and followed his brother outside. “No!” shouted Jack as he saw a weird green hand pulled Tim into the ship. He hurried in after him.
5 . . . 4. . .3. . .2. . . 1. . . . Blast Off!
The U.F.O. leapt from the ground and into the sky. Tim and Jack peered out of the tiny porthole and looked below. They could see their house and it was getting steadily smaller and smaller until it disappeared from sight.
Now they were so high up in the sky that they could see the whole world but after a while that too turned into a tiny speck. All they could see was the darkness of space and millions of stars.
Suddenly two cups were lowered on a platform; they gulped down the liquid. “Yuck!” exclaimed Tim but Jack wasn’t listening – he was fast asleep on the floor. A minute later Tim was lying beside him.
They woke up to find themselves in a weird pen like place. It had a pool, a house, lots of trees and a fence surrounding it. On the other side of the fence were weird, strange creatures; ones with two heads, some had three eyes while others had a variety of legs and fins and multicoloured bodies that were out of this world.
