Spartacus was an important figure because he was brave enough to revolt against the Roman Empire. In 73 BC, Spartacus was among many other gladiators trying to escape. Many gladiators betrayed the plot, but about 70 men fought against the others and escaped. This showed the determination that they had, to escape. The slaves defeated another small force trying to bring them back. They recruited many other slaves and they were going to start a revolt. Spartacus brought these slaves a new hope to have freedom. He was determined to gain freedom to all the countries captured by Rome.

The Roman Empire was known to have many strategies, all of which Spartacus knew. Spartacus was in the Roman army, most likely an auxiliary. Here, he learnt many strategies and techniques. This meant if he knew the strategies, he would be able to see all the flaws in them. Another thing which would help would be that he was that he was a gladiator. In gladiator schools, you were taught many endurance skills and a lot of fighting techniques. Not only was he a great tactician, but also a great fighter.

Spartacus showed powerful leaders that freedom was something that was needed to have a successful country. Gladiators were not allowed to leave their school and were forced to do a lot of things they didn’t want. Roman Empire also captured free nations, which made a lot of nations under the control of the Romans. Spartacus revolted so that the empire would understand that freedom was good. Although he did not win his fight, he is now known to be a great leader for freedom.

Spartacus is also a famous figure because influences many people who are poor. Spartacus came from a poor family and became more of an average Roman person. He went to the army and became a gladiator. Then he started the revolt. For this, he became famous for being brave. Poor people can think of him because he started low and gradually got higher. Florus showed this because “Spartacus was from Thracian mercenary, had become a Roman soldier, of a soldier a deserter and robber, and afterwards, from consideration of his strength, a gladiator.”

Spartacus is an important figure to every person in the world because of his courage, humility, leadership and strategic plans.
