   Today Squirt and Slater were going to go camping in Squirt’s back yard. Neither had been camping before, but they were excited about it. Squirt’s mama had set up the tent for the boys, and hauled out everything they needed to sleep on.

   Slater showed up in time for dinner and then him and Squirt headed out to the back yard. Once inside the tent they sat down to read some stories that they liked. After that they sat outside and looked at the stars. They talked about what they liked with school. Soon they started to grow tire and headed to bed. Sometime in the night Squirt woke up to a sound outside their tent.

    Poking Slater, Squirt saw that he was awake also. What do you think that was? Squirt asked him. Slater didn’t know, but thought that maybe it was an animal. They didn’t hear the noise again so they fell asleep. A little while later there was another noise outside the tent. Squirt was scared and so was Slater. Looking out of their window they saw a shadow moving around. Squirt wanted to head back inside, but Slater told him they had to wait for the shadow to move away from them. Soon the shadow moved away,  and they hopped to the house.

   Once inside they found Squirt’s mama and told her what they saw. She said it must have been an animal. However, the boys were scared and didn’t want to go back outside. So Squirt’s mama set up some sheets in the living room like a tent. Soon after they fell asleep and didn’t wake up until morning.
