A short story in several chapters about a man who returns from the dead for revenge with the help of a special car.

STEEL REVENGE -by DS Wizrah

It was a cold and rainy night in the quiet little town of Holly. Gentle waves crashed against the shore in this small seaside community on the upper coast of Maine. A few houses on the hills still had flickering lights of activity from within but most of its inhabitants had turned in for the night. The rainstorm seemed normal enough but there was an eerie mist settling on the western side of town by the old cemetery, as soft rumbles of thunder and the occasional flash of lightning illuminated the old graveyard as the water flowed down the tombstones.

A lone, older-model, police patrol car made its way down the muddy road back to town after Officer Seminole had completed his nightly checks of the cemetery gates. There were a few other branches to the road so the patrolman didn’t think twice about the Chevrolet Camaro driving down this same pathway and back towards the graveyard. It was shiny red like the brightest rubies and its pipes echoed an almost demonic growl to them as it passed the patrolman by. The windows were tinted so dark that nobody would be able to see inside and the Officer smiled to himself wishing he could own a fancy vehicle like that someday. It was one of the newer styles of the Cheverlot Camaro, resurrected in 2010 many after years of being discontinued and dreamed of only as a concept car for years after that. Officer Seminole couldn’t think of too many people in his humble little town that could afford that type of car. Then without another thought, he continued back into Holly while the red camaro made its way further up the hill.

Five tombstones lay in a plot of land on the farthest edge of the cemetery. It was the final resting place of a tragedy that still frightened the local villagers and had become a folk legend on its own. A mother and father, their two children, and the son’s finance’ had been brutally murdered some time ago by individuals unknown. The mutilated bodies washed ashore and there were rumors that it was a either a warning from from a crime syndicate connected to the larger cities or it may have just been this poor family was in the wrong place at the wrong time. The police never did find the killers or bring anyone to justice, so the town of Holly became a frequent stop for ghost hunters and others who believed the spirits of the Shaw family still haunted this region.
